ANGELA APODACA
Playwright| Poet| Actor| Teaching Artist

ANGELA APODACA is a Southern California native and Los Angeles-based playwright, poet, actor, and educator. She is a devoted bridge builder in our world neighborhood and as a performer-creator, she is passionate about building supportive containers and collaboration guided by play, discovery, connection, and mutual respect.
As a teaching artist, Angela utilizes a wide range of tools from theatre and other modalities including Theatre of the Sphere, vocal and physical warm-ups, mindfulness meditation, and HealthRHYTHMS. She has trained with Teatro Campesino in facilitating Theatre of the Sphere Vibrant Being Workshops and she is a trained HealthRHYTHMS facilitator through Remo, the percussion instrument brand. She has facilitated workshops in-person and online for nonprofit organizations, art galleries, museums, and at international retreats including Bowers Museum, Bowers Kidseum, and she is currently a teaching artist and ensemble member at Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble.
As an actor, Angela has performed in theater productions in Southern California and in the Pacific Northwest including South Coast Repertory, Native Voices, Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble, Milagro Theatre, Company of Angels, Teatro Frida Kahlo, LA Female Playwrights Initiative and others.
Angela’s newest play, American Cholita, a tale about Quechua culture, migration, sisterhood, and skateboarding was written during the 2025 EMBARK New Play Cohort by Orange County Playwrights Alliance and she is currently looking for opportunities to continue developing this play and other new work. Most of Angela’s poems are offered from the stage only, however her most recent lyrical offering is published in FUEGO: A 10-Year Anthology.
Angela creates to connect with people and to honor the stories and culture of her Yaqui, Quechua, Bolivian, and Mexican ancestors, whose shoulders she stands on with gratitude and heart-centered urgency in troubling times.
